One of the most respected manufacturers of riflescopes among professionals is the American firm of Leupold & Stevens. The U.S. Army has chosen Leupold scopes for
their best marksmen, and the Marine Corps is putting them on the Designated Marksman
equipment. In addition, most police units in the U.S. are topped with Leupold scopes. That armed professionals choose Leupold scopes says much for the quality of the company's products. A reputation for building high-quality optics has also made Leupold scopes extremely popular among serious
outdoor sportsmen.
Mark 4 Scopes
No scope is more capable of carrying out the mission than a Leupold Mark 4, which is why a Mark 4 is the primary day optic of the U.S. Army M24
marksman system, and Leupold scopes are the number one choice of most military and law enforcement professionals worldwide. Maintube milled from a solid piece of 6061-T6 aircraft aluminum.
Multicoat 4 Indexed Matched Lens System
Leupold users know that for a bright, crisp sight picture with good contrast in all light conditions, proper light management and maximum light transmission is absolutely critical. New for
2008, Leupold's Mark 4 LR/T scopes features the Indexed Matched Lens System, greatly improving upon what was already impeccable light management.
Here's how the Leupold Indexed Matched Lens System works: Leupold engineers specified very low reflection of light at several key points across the range of colors that the human eye can see. Light that doesn't reflect off the lens surfaces transmits through and contributes to a crisp, true-colored and brilliant image. The light that is transmitted does not bounce around inside the scope, causing glare that can degrade the contrast you want.
Since dozens of different glass types are available to create a lens system that gives you the optical performance you need, the lens technicians had to pick just the right coating material for each individual lens surface, in order to meet the stringent specifications established by our technical team. They also matched the ideal coating materials to each lens‚ glass type and layered these different substances to minimize reflections and maximize performance. The result? Some of the new riflescopes have measured as high as 98 percent TOTAL light transmission, which means you'll get brightness and clarity like you've never seen before.
