Price Policy

(They have been sending this out every January along with their price list
and this is the exact copy that was circulated this year with the 2008 price list)

Each retailer selling Leupold products remains free to establish its own resale prices and promotions; however, Leupold & Stevens, Inc. will, without assuming any liability, refuse to sell, either directly or through distribution, to any retailer following verification by Leupold & Stevens, Inc. to its satisfaction that the retailer has advertised, promoted, offered or sold any Leupold products below that stipulated on the Gold Ring Dealer Unilateral Pricing Policy Price List and/or utilized promotional items other than those stipulated on the Unilateral Promotional Items List. This Policy is subject to change at any time by Leupold & Stevens, Inc. in its discretion.

Each retailer of Leupold products is free to independently decide whether or not to follow this policy. Leupold & Stevens, Inc. does not ask for, nor will it accept, any assurance of compliance or agreement from a retailer regarding this Policy nor will Leupold discuss any conditions of acceptance related to this Policy. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary which may be expressed or implied in or by one or more agreements between the retailer and Leupold & Stevens, Inc. (including without limitation any retailer agreement), nothing in those agreements shall constitute an agreement by the retailer to comply with this Policy.

The Policy may be delivered to retailers directly by Leupold and its representatives or via Leupold distributors. As this is a Policy between Leupold and the retailer, Leupold representatives and distributors are not authorized to make any representations, give any explanations, or otherwise communicate with retailers about the Policy. The only Leupold & Stevens, Inc. representatives authorized by Leupold & Stevens, Inc. to answer questions regarding this Policy and to comment on it and to whom questions regarding this policy must be addressed are:

No Leupold & Stevens, Inc. representative, employee or distributor has authority to modify or alter this Policy. Should a retailer learn of any modification or alteration of this Policy or an attempt to do so, the retailer should immediately notify one of the authorized Leupold representatives.

What does this do? This practice artificially inflates prices
by eliminating price competition.

1) If Leupold's anti-competition practices turn you off, vote with your dollars and buy a different brand. "Leupold isn't the best scope out there, it is just one of the best known" Ryan - Office Manager. There is (easily) life without Leupold. Sales without them has been surprisingly better than expected. Several other brands offer award-winning optics and innovative technology.

2) Contact Leupold & Stevens and let them know what you think of their fixed-prices, anti-competition practices "disguised" in their "Unilateral Minimum Price Policy"

3) Research other optic brands and you'll find noteworthy and awesome competition. Let Leupold know you're switching brands because of their "Unilateral Minimum Price Policy"

We can, with Bright & Clear conscience, recommend Nikon, Trijicon and Zeiss Scopes. Especially if you are considering VX-I, VX-II, Rifleman and VX-III Scopes. These three brands have brighter and clearer glass than Leupold for the same money spent. Leupold makes a more handsome, cosmetic and thicker scope as far as the outside housing and Leupold has a wider selection of fun and clever gadgets you can buy. BUT, if it is the quality of the actual optics (the glass) that matters most to you, please take a look at the Nikon, Trijicon and Zeiss Riflescopes.

Carl Zeiss Inc. is based in Germany and has one of the finest reputations in the world for their optics in medical and scientific products. They use that same superior know-how in their riflescopes. We would recommend them as well as Nikon Monarch Gold Scopes over VX-III.

Trijicon Accupoint is one of the more innovative, finer riflescopes out there. Trijicon AccuPoint is not as actively advertised but is made by the same U.S. optics company that manufactures more optics for the U.S. military than any other company.

Nikon, maker of fine cameras, also employs a superior optic process in their riflescopes. Their strongest suit is the amount of quality you get in their less expensive lines, under $600. Here at 4Scopes, we always steer customers towards the Monarch and Buckmasters lines over VX-I, VX-II and Rifleman. Their tactical line is also of worthy recommendation for Long-Range shooters.
